Professional Development/Curriculum Consultant
SUMMARY
Responsible for outreach to determine professional development needs and provide firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies with appropriate ALI-ABA solutions. Additional responsibilities include developing current business relationships, ensuring client satisfaction, and utilizing legal training to provide consultative services in various curriculum-related areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Meet or exceed monthly and yearly revenue objectives for: new sales; overage consumption; and retention goals.
2. Create a territory develop plan including:
a. Identification of new revenue opportunities within the assigned territory
b. Development of demand generation strategies (positioning ALI-ABA as the superior source for CLE / Secondary Legal)
c. Management of resources necessary to secure business (pricing, tactical marketing, product support)
d. Identification of competitive threats and development of effective countermeasures (in conjunction with management)
3. Develop, maintain and grow a rigorous pipeline of opportunities by:
a. Cold calling
b. Engaging in consulting sessions and presentations (both telephonic and in-person)
c. Closing
d. Supporting and managing relationships
4. Report regularly on pipeline of activity, revenue forecasts, and closing timetables
5. Record all sales activity in a CRM system
6. Develop an in-depth understanding of ALI-ABA programming and products, handle customer concerns and objections.
7. Utilize legal training to provide consultative services in various curriculum related areas.
8. Develop an in-depth understanding of law firm and corporate legal department landscapes to enable effective communication with prospects.
QUALIFICATIONS
JD required
Prior legal industry experience required
Minimum of 5 years successful sales experience in a consultative selling environment
Must be a self starter with high energy, motivation, and polish
Experience building return on investment calculations and demonstrating value
Proven presentation, communication (written and verbal), and negotiation skills
Superior interpersonal and time management skills
Well developed organization skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced and evolving environment
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Strong command of the English language, written and oral.
OTHER SKILLS:
Ability to absorb and communicate product and other information important to our IC customers.
Strong organizational skills - ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to interact with all levels of law firm management.
Strong prospecting and pipeline management skills.
Well-developed presentation and consultative sales skills.
REASONING ABILITY:
Sound judgment, initiative, sensitivity to customer needs, and excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY:
Ability to use a calculator to compute percentage discounts, in addition to general addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook and Word, also experience (or commitment to learn) various customer service tracking or other relevant software.
