The EPA's Proposed Rule on Reporting Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Why Attend?
• Get a succinct update on the EPA’s proposed rule for reporting GHG emissions
• Learn practical implications for industries affected.
• Discuss issues for potential comment during the rulemaking process.
What You Will Learn
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed the first comprehensive national system for reporting emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by major sources in the United States.
The proposed rule calls for suppliers of fossil fuels or industrial greenhouse gases, manufacturers of vehicles and engines, and facilities that emit 25,000 metric tons or more of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (CO2) per year to submit annual reports to the EPA. The comment period for the proposed rules continues through June 9, 2009.
What does this new EPA rule-making effort mean for U.S. manufacturers and facilities that meet the emissions threshold? How can lawyers best advise their clients who wish to comment? What preparations can companies make now to facilitate compliance once the rule becomes effective?
Outstanding faculty who advise both private and governmental clients on EPA regulatory issues will discuss the purposes and implications for business of the proposed rules. Join Todd D. Kantorczyk, Manko, Gold, Katcher, & Fox LLP, Philadelphia, a partner with extensive experience advising clients on issues related to regulatory compliance, litigation, and other matters in the areas of air, climate change, and energy; Carol Holmes, , Office of General Counsel, U.S. EPA; and Katherine Sibold, Program Integration Branch, Climate Change Division, U.S. EPA, Washington, D.C., for lively discussion and practical insights.
