What You Will Learn

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its companion legislation, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, are now law.  Congress and President Obama have not only reformed some insurance company practices, but also changed how employers will provide health care coverage henceforth.

What are the new requirements for employers to provide health care coverage?  What penalties ensue for failure to follow the new laws?  How must employers now communicate with their employees regarding health care coverage?  Are wellness plans still permitted?  What plans, if any, will be “grandfathered in,” and what plans might be taxed (for offering extensive benefits over a certain level)?

In a convenient phone and audio webcast format, outstanding employee benefits lawyers lawyers John L. Utz, Utz Miller & Eickman LLC, Overland Park, Kansas, and Kathryn L. Bakich, Segal Company, Washington, D.C., who have been analyzing the effects of this momentous legislation, will outline the consequences of these new laws for employers and their health plans.

This program is a LIVE REPEAT of a popular program that first aired on May 11, 2010 (Health Reform: What Labor and Employment Lawyers Should Know), with UPDATES provided as new guidance emerges from governmental agencies.  Dial in from anywhere, or log in from your personal computer.  Ask questions during or before the program by sending an e-mail to: tsquestions@ali-aba.org.  Please put Faculty Question for TSSU02 in the subject heading.
